Frequently Asked Questions About Sandals Scuba Program

Do I need a wet suit?
Not really, but if you have one and it's made from thin fabric, bring it along. During the winter months it is a good idea to wear your suit.

How many dives can I do per day?
You are allowed two dives per day (except on Sundays) if you are certified. For non-certified persons, you are allowed only one dive per day after the resort course is complete.

Do you have night diving?
Yes, at some properties. Night dives, however, are not part of the all-inclusive package and are offered at an additional cost.

Can we dive on our own?
No, all dives are guided.

What brand of equipment do you use?
B.C.D. - Cressi SUB

Up to what time before flying are we allowed to dive?
You are not allowed to dive on the same day you fly.

Can my non-diving partner come on the boat?
No. Non-divers are not allowed on the dive boat.

Can my partner snorkel while I dive off the dive boat?
No, a boat is provided exclusively for snorkeling.

Do you take dive groups?
If we are given advance warning, this can be facilitated.

Could these groups go on night dives?
Yes, subject to advance discussions.

What are the requirements to do a resort course?
A swim evaluation and a medical questionnaire (PDF) which must show no contra-indications to diving.

Can we get certified at Sandals?
Yes, at an extra cost.

What diving organizations are represented at Sandals?
Mainly P.A.D.I. and N.A.U.I. All dive cards from agencies recognized by DEMA are accepted.

If a person does the necessary classes to dive in their state except for the open water dive, can we certify them for the open water dive at Sandals?
Yes, but is not part of the all-inclusive package. Speak to the dive instructor upon arrival. We offer the following certification courses at some properties (St. Lucia and Jamaica):

What is the deepest we can go?
Our depths vary from hotel to hotel between 60 to 90 feet.
